A community-centered Interdisciplinary Art Hub in Ithaca

Media Arts Collective + Resource Exchange (MACRE) — pronounced “maker” — is a media arts collective and resource exchange based in downtown Ithaca, rooted in responsiveness to the needs, interests, and issues of our beloved community.

Launching June 1, 2025, our dream is for MACRE to grow into an innovative interdisciplinary arts organization—serving as both a creative incubator and community-centered space for experiential learning, collaborative making, and cross-disciplinary connection. We aim to foster a dynamic environment where new forms of creativity emerge through the fusion of art, technology, and social engagement.

Through hybrid programs and workshops, we support creative exploration across disciplines. Structured as a cooperative with a nonprofit arm, MACRE expands access to media tools and resources—prioritizing marginalized and underfunded groups—fostering shared ownership, inclusion, and community-driven collaboration.

  • Artist-in-Incubator Program

Each season—spring, summer, and fall—we invite an artist or team to join our Artist-in-Incubator program. Participants receive a dedicated 200 sq ft studio space and a stipend. This program serves as a creative incubator and a community-centered hub for experiential learning, collaborative making, and cross-disciplinary exchange.

The selected artist or team will organize an exhibition and public presentation, lead a workshop (with potential for additional income), and have access to shared office facilities.

We are currently accepting submissions for the upcoming term (Fall 2025, 2–3 months). For more detailed information and application instructions, please visit our Artist-In-Incubator page.
